]]>I’m also working on adding some new rings to my wedding rings collection and I thought ‘let’s combine the two’.
In my opinion, the love of Daenerys Targaryen and Khal Drogo was wild, strong and true so I decided to design a wedding ring to Khaleesi, Daenerys Targaryen, for her wedding with Khal Drogo.
Since Daenerys started from the very bottom with absolutely nothing and she became very powerful who is also known as the mother of the dragons, her wedding ring is designed as a plain ring that gradually turns into three dimensional dragon scale/ dragon egg shell.

Here are some pictures from the process, let me know what you think in the comments below.

]]>People often ask me ‘what is hand engraving?’ and ‘How did you learn to engrave?’
I recently wrote an article about ‘Hand Engraving’ that you can read here.
It all started a long long time ago (on 2003 to be accurate), I needed to have an inscription on one of my pendants. I asked my mentor-jeweler about inscriptions and he referred me to an old Moroccan engraver. When I saw that engraver, engraving my pendant, I was fascinated! He did a very precise and elegant job and right then and there I fell in love with this ancient art.
I asked the engraver ‘Will you teach me hand engraving?’ and he told me ‘Not a chance in the world! I’ve been offered a lot of money to teach this art and I refused!’
Being the stubborn I am, I decided, at that exact moment, that I will learn hand engraving by myself. I had luck to ask a casting person from Russia about hand engraving and he sold me a graver, a handle and shellac to hold the engraved metal. I bought a few books about hand engraving and started practicing. It was a long-long learning curve of a lot of frustration moments, failures and mistakes. I also had the chance to cut myself a few times (in every relationship there are ups and downs), until I learned to ‘feel’ and control the graver. I think it was the true love for engraving that made it possible to overcome the hard learning curve. Eventually I can say that all the hard work is paying off.

Now I engrave my own jewelry and I also give engraving services to other jewelers as well as private customers.

]]>A lot of customers ask me “How do I choose the best diamond for my jewelry?” or “I heard about the 4 C’s and I want a clean diamond” etc.
As most people know the 4 C’s are: Cut, Clarity, Color and Carat and the combination of these factors determines the price of the diamond. Now people read about this clarity and that color and yet the question remains – How do I choose the best diamond?
Well, I think that the question should be “How do I choose the best diamond for me?”
My best advice is to work with your jeweler and decide together what diamond is best for you.
With my customers, I always start with the design of the jewelry and as a result – the shape (cut) and size (carat) of the of the diamond(s) for that design like if the design requires princess cut diamond (square), round or oval or any other shape of diamond.
After we have an idea of what size and shape we want, I advise to select the best diamond that the budget allows and at this point the jeweler should take in consider the budget and give the customer a few options of diamonds: a very clean and with a very good color (if the budget allows it), a clean diamond and to compromise about the color, diamond with a good color and to compromise about the clarity, or any combination of color and clarity.
Now, when we have a few diamonds within our budget we should look at them and see which diamond has a good “life” or in other words which one do we like best and we should go with this diamond.
In the picture on the right, the customer wanted this design of a solitaire engagement ring and I guided him on choosing the right diamond for this design, with the best color and clarity while considering the budget.
To sum up, you should pick a good, trustworthy jeweler and work with him on finding the best diamond for you.
